This year I will have the honor to photography many beautiful weddings in the Catskills in Upstate, NY. Some of the locations will be Hunter, Tannersville, Round Top, Big Indian and Windham . I also have a great engagement session scheduled at the famous Kaaterskill Falls. I cannot wait. On a few weekends I will have one wedding in the mountains and one in NYC. The totally different feel is so good for artistic health. I cannot wait !
The 4:5 format of Medium format film is a format many pros have never shot in.
Aperture Photography was booked for a wedding today that will be all film ! The bride and groom are in the entertainment world and love the look and texture of Medium Format film. I have been shooting film for 20 years. In the last 7 or so years almost all digital. They both are wonderful, but so different. I will be using Kodak Portra Film. I love the skin tones and pastel look. The 4:5 format is very different from the digitals 3:2. My camera of choice will be a Contax 645. The thin depth of field and blurred background in the right light and printed on the right paper looks a bit like a painting. Because of the expense of film and film processing is quite high it forces you to be very precise. Since I shot professionally on film for so long it will not be difficult for me, but it sure is exciting. We are planning 3 locations. As we all know what we don't show is often more interesting then what we show. In photography. Photography is all about leading the eye to what the main focus of the photograph. Some times you just don't want to show the papers, coke cans or the normal items that are in a brides room, but the light is hitting the bride just right and she looks great. No problem using a fast lenses and a wide aperture will leave her in focus and blur the distracting background. On the other hand Aperture Photography shoots many weddings in the Catskills of New York. The scenery is just breathtaking. You want to show it. So you set your camera lens so it will revel both the bride and the surrounding mountains.

You deserve the best memories ! I must admit I am biased but if you think about it is true. The only thing left after the wedding will be you memories in the form of photography. The food will be eaten, the flowers will die, but with a fantastic wedding photographer you can relive your wedding anytime by looking at your beautiful pictures. There are many areas in the wedding budget to move around to get a good photographer. Of course the photographer should be reasonable with price. Many people don't think of the time and money it takes to produce great photographs. The lenses and equipment to get the correct and creative look at times cost a King's Ransom. The average time in post processing is well over 50 hours per wedding. The cost of advertiser each month is as much or more than a midsize car payment. That's OK though we don't do it for the money, we do it because we love it.

This was taken in East Windam NY in the northern Catskills in Upstate NY just pulls at my heart strings . The baby and family members had such love for each other.
The Mid Hudson Valley, Saugeties and Kingston, NY is now an upscale destination Wedding area
Aperture Photography has been in business for close to 20 years. We have photographed weddings in just about every location in the Saugerties and Kingston areas you can think of.
The area is so beautiful that I choose to raise my children in the quiet town. With great schools and activities for all it is close to nirvana as you can get.
When 911 happen the world and the Kingston, NY and Saugerties areas changed. The towns moved up scale with Saugerties even being rates as one of the top ten coolest towns in America. People from NYC bought up a vast amount of the tows and Saugerties especially looks more like The East Village in NY then the Mayberry it once was.
What also changed is the wedding scene with high end wedding many destination weddings. Aperture Photography has always shot weddings in Saugerties and Kingston, but with the decline of industry and older local venues, Saugerties is now a destination wedding location.
