Yesterday I photographed a wonderful couples engagement photographs. I often photograph weddings in Hunter, Tannersville, Windham, The Full Moon Resort and Mohonk Mountain House. Every time Aperture Photography a photograph a wedding or engagement session I find new places of beauty to add to my collection of places to take my brides and grooms. This year I will have the honor to photography many beautiful weddings in the Catskills in Upstate, NY. Some of the locations will be Hunter, Tannersville, Round Top, Big Indian and Windham . I also have a great engagement session scheduled at the famous Kaaterskill Falls. I cannot wait. On a few weekends I will have one wedding in the mountains and one in NYC. The totally different feel is so good for artistic health. I cannot wait !

Saugerties, Kingston Wedding Photographer on Film | Aperture Photography

The 4:5 format of Medium format film is a format many pros have never shot in.

Aperture Photography was booked for a wedding today that will be all film ! The bride and groom are in the entertainment world and love the look and texture of Medium Format film. I have been shooting film for 20 years. In the last 7 or so years almost all digital. They both are wonderful, but so different. I will be using Kodak Portra Film. I love the skin tones and pastel look. The 4:5 format is very different from the digitals 3:2. My camera of choice will be a Contax 645. The thin depth of field and blurred background in the right light and printed on the right paper looks a bit like a painting. Because of the expense of film and film processing is quite high it forces you to be very precise. Since I shot professionally on film for so long it will not be difficult for me, but it sure is exciting. We are planning 3 locations. You deserve the best memories ! I must admit I am biased but if you think about it is true. The only thing left after the wedding will be you memories in the form of photography. The food will be eaten, the flowers will die, but with a fantastic wedding photographer you can relive your wedding anytime by looking at your beautiful pictures. It's Upstate NY in early March and it is snowing so hard you can't see 50 feet. The wind just knocked a few shingles of the roof. But I am so lucky to be a wedding photographer. Aperture Photography has been in business for close to 20 years. We have photographed weddings in just about every location in the Saugerties and Kingston areas you can think of.

Sometimes you just need to be ready for anything. I was at the back of the church in Albany, NY with a long lense and tring to be quit. Suddenly this young boy darted out of the 2nd row a I snapped the shot. The receiption was a the Copper Tree Inn at Hunter Mountain.
