I wish I had time to write about how perfect the couple, The Rhinecliff and the day was. I was amazed how beautiful it was. Aperture Photography has photographed many weddings at the Rhinecliff and what amazes me is the perfect light. Sunny or Cloudy the angle and Hudson River make it a dream for photography. Love it ! shooting the wedding in Newburgh and stopped at the The Grandview on the Hudson River and the photos were amazing. They have a great location and the view was spectacular. Then we went to the Poughkeepsie Grand. I never say it look so beautiful. Just perfect. They hand made table cloths and they were works of art. Just an amazing day ! More to come.
The light in the Catskills has attracted artists since the 1830's. The Light is simply amazing. This shot was taken at Hunter Mountain and the Reception was at The Copper Tree Inn. Windham Mountain which is a few miles to the north has very similar light. You simply cannot beat it. The bride is from France and she just radiates grace and beauty. I have been married to the most wonderful person for more than 2 decades. I would give every cent I have to have my wedding photographs back. Through the years we have had fires, and floods and many priceless photographs were destroyed. In those days there were no digital cameras. The safety of digital files provide is truly priceless. But think about having the person who took the pictures design the album and they will make sure it is done with the same artfulness and intention that the photos were taken with. That being said a beautiful album really is stunning and a joy to look at. A work of art. Think about it, you can look at the “Mona Lisa” on your computer or you can look at it in physical form. Well you get the idea. You are missing out if you do not get a beautifully professionally designed album with the best photographic paper. Sure it cost money, but you will have a lasting heirloom of the most important day of your life.
Save some money in your budget for a beautiful wedding album. It is a great time for couples you can now have both! Aperture Photography can work with you to give you the best of both at an affordable price.
This subject is a highly personal matter of taste. When photographers like myself a lot of switched most of our work to from film to digital a whole new door opened. That door is and was Photoshop. Like salt and pepper it should be used with care. It is a powerful tool and you can do almost anything with it. But the question is should you. After years of working with it the answer is no. Photoshop is great to enhance an already great photograph, but is no substitute for good skillful photography. I still love to shoot is film and you get one chance. And that is all you need. A professional wedding photographer must nail the shot. Aperture Photography has been in business for over 20 years and I see, so many weekend warriors come and go due to a lack of fundamental skills and lack of art training.
I shoot film for most of my personal work and force myself to be technically sound. Then and only then can I go for the Wow shots ! Yes I use special effects sprinkled throughout as a seasoning, put never as a main course. Wedding Photography must pass the test of time. Like a classic song that sounds good like the day it was recorded A photograph must look great in 20 years. Too many Photoshop tricks and you will look back and see a dated set of pictures. A few stylized shots enhance.

Suddenly this young boy darted out of the 2nd row a I snapped the shot. The receiption was a the Copper Tree Inn at Hunter Mountain. Aperture Photography has photographed dozens of weddings in the Hunter, Windam area and love the light and mountain air.
